Sona’s Healthy Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe
I love autumn so much. I’m sad to see summer go, but there's something really special about the changing seasons, and I just love this time of the year!
I have to admit, I actually don’t like pumpkin spice lattes. Personally, I like black coffee or iced coffee with a little whole milk.
But my kids absolutely love pumpkin spice lattes during this time of the year. Unfortunately, most coffee shops add preservatives, processed sugar, corn syrup, and other ingredients we should not be consuming. So I came up with this simple and healthy pumpkin spice latte recipe for them to enjoy throughout the fall.
Ingredients and Recipe
This is a super simple base that you can make and keep in the fridge for two weeks. Works for hot and iced pumpkin spice lattes.
For The Base
- 1 Can Pumpkin Purée (Make sure it doesn’t have any additives or sugar; the only ingredient should be pumpkin)
- 1 Cup Pure Maple Syrup (you can adjust this to taste)
- 2 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- Pinch of Sea Salt
- 1 Cup of Water
In a saucepan, combine all ingredients except for the vanilla extract and let it simmer over medium-low heat. Stir throughout to avoid burning. Once most of the water is gone and the sauce thickens but is still runny, remove from heat and let it cool.
After a few minutes, add the vanilla extract and stir well. Once completely cool, you can store in a glass jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
To make your latte, add a tablespoon or two of the syrupy base to a cup and pour hot coffee or an espresso shot over it. Add more milk for a hot latte or pour over ice and add milk for a delicious iced pumpkin spice latte!
You can sprinkle some cinnamon on top for extra fall flavors!
And there you go: a simple and healthy pumpkin spice latte without corn syrup, processed sugars, or other mystery ingredients.
Skin Benefits
Processed sugar and corn syrup are not ideal for healthy, beautiful skin. Refined sugars are high on the glycemic index and can cause inflammation, speed aging, and flare acne.
It’s something I try to avoid as much as possible in my diet.
A simple swap like natural maple syrup is a much smarter choice because it has some beneficial antioxidants and phenolic compounds that can actually fight free radicals. Honestly, maple syrup works even better in this fall-themed recipe!
Pumpkin is also full of vitamins A, C, and E as well as beta-carotene, so when done right, this is actually a really great recipe!
Of course, coffee is not the best thing for skin health, but like I always say, for me coffee is worth it, plus I always have our Anti-Aging Skincare Set and our Natural Retinol.
