Sona’s Healthy Homemade Nutella Alternative Recipe

Chocolate spreads from the supermarket are delicious but when you look at the ingredients, unfortunately, it tells a different story.

Palm oil, sugar, soy lecithin, etc. You can avoid these ingredients by making a homemade version of chocolate spread that tastes delicious and is good for you!

Here’s my homemade Nutella-alternative chocolate spread recipe.

Ingredients and Recipe

  • 2 Cups Raw Hazelnuts
  • 5-6 Tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (adjust to taste)
  • 5-6 Tbsp Maple Syrup or Honey (adjust to taste)
  • ½ Tsp Salt (very important)
  • 1 Tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 5 Tbsp Milk of Choice (add more if needed)

Start by roasting your hazelnuts in the oven at 350 degrees Fareniheit for 8-10 minutes. Lightly roasting hazelnuts will give them a nice nutty flavor and help release the natural oils.

It’s very important that you don’t overcook or burn the hazelnuts because this will reduce a lot of the healthy components, including antioxidants and Vitamin E. Not to mention, burned hazelnuts will ruin the flavor of your chocolate spread.

Once roasted, place on a kitchen towel and massage the hazelnuts for a few minutes, releasing the skin as much as possible.

Place all the ingredients except for milk in a food processor and blend. Every so often, add some milk and continue blending until you reach your desired consistency.

And that’s it! You can store your chocolate spread in the fridge for up to 10 days. Enjoy!

Skin Benefits

Hazelnuts are an incredible health food. They contain vitamin E, healthy fats like oleic acid (Omega-9), and minerals like copper.

They are not only great for the heart and brain, fighting oxidative stress, but the Vitamin E and copper content in hazelnuts also support collagen health and skin elasticity.

Cocoa powder contains powerful antioxidant flavonoids, which are great for overall health and the skin, and if you choose to use honey, you can help support your gut health as well.

Enjoy this guilt-free, healthy, and delicious homemade chocolate spread recipe.
